About

WHAT WE DO

Olie’s Travels is an Auckland-based travel company offering short tours in and around Auckland. Our aim is to create a unique high-end experience that is unparalleled for visitors to Auckland, whether staying for the day or longer. Our tours are small (up to 11 people maximum) and whilst we visit the most popular travel spots in Auckland, we also travel to the ‘insiders view’ of Auckland. These are the spots that few others travel to or perhaps even know about.

You'll be driven in luxury in our modern Mercedes vehicles.

Ultimately, when you travel with us you’re not travelling with a big international brand on a large bus, but with an authentic, locally-owned business that puts you, the customer, at the centre of everything we do.

We also offer bespoke tours by arrangement, whether its a fishing charter with incredible catering, a seated picnic lunch in a beautiful unique location or a lunch cooked using kiwi specialties in an amazing private room. To find out more contact hello@oliestravels.nz

ABOUT OLIE AND ANNIE

Olie Stones founded Olie's Travels to share his love of travel with anyone wanting to discover this beautiful part of the world. Olie was born in Cornwall, England, working the last 30 years in finance and is married to Annie who is a New Zealander. Olie started travelling to NZ in 2003 and has been coming here to travel for a month every year since. He fell so in love with New Zealand that he emigrated here, with Annie, in 2017 to live permanently.

Annie is a kiwi who has worked for 25 years in the wine and food industry. Starting with 5 years at NZ’s incredible Villa Maria Estate (visit on our Gourmet Food and Wine Tour), she then enjoyed 10 years as a Director at the UK’s largest premium wine distributor, Bibendum. Following that she chased her dream of food and founded a restaurant and food business in Jersey, before returning to NZ in 2017. Most recently she has worked at Gatting's Catering where she continues her love and learning of NZ cuisine. She is so excited to share her knowledge of food and wine in and around Auckland. She loves food and photography and many of the pics you see in our gallery are hers.

ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY

ENVIRONMENT

Minimise the use of plastic in all that we do.

Use metal water bottles - we ask that NO single use plastic bottles are bought on tours. Eliminate use of single-use plastic straws, crockery or bags.

Responsible waste disposal, recycling and composting where possible.

Compost all food matter. We use a commercial compost company.  All non-biodegradable items to be recycled.  Single use battery free operation.  Recycling all waste oil, coolant and tyres.

Use chemical-free products only for cleaning.

All rubbish to be kept on bus in bags provided.  If we see litter, we will pick it up (within reason).

Member and supporter of Forest and Bird - NZ’s leading independent conservation organisation www.forestandbird.org.nz. Leave the forest in the forest and respect trails and advice, close gates.  Don’t feed animals unless allowed to. Avoid loud noise in the forest, for other walkers and the birds.  Leave it as we find it - except for the litter!  Respect the strict Kauri Die Back rules (covered specially in the pre-tour briefing).

Carbon emissions - becoming SAFEDNZ trained 2019 to reduce vehicle omissions.

COMMUNITY

We are looking for a group of up to 11 in our community who need free weekly transport. If this sounds like you or a group you know please get in touch and see if it’s a good fit at hello@oliestravels.nz.

"All in all we felt like we had experienced a real slice of New Zealand - not far from Auckland - as well as fun activities and a lot of information from and laughs with our host Olie."

Rachel M - Luxembourg, TripAdvisor

"We had such a great fun afternoon out with Olie's Travels starting at the Matakana markets where we had great coffee, famous kiwi whitebait and mussel fritters, crepes and a spot of shopping stocking up for a cheese platter for the evening... Was a super day with a fantastic host (very knowledgeable) and loved the flexibility of how long we needed/wanted to spend in one spot."
